Here’s a quick excerpt
Okay, so according to rumors stemming from a scanned cover of the new Nintendo Power, it looks like Sonic’s next adventure – possibly after Sonic Unleashed (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) – will feature him swinging around a huge sword in a Wii-exclusive title called Sonic and the Black Knight. Weird? Oh, yes. True? Looks like it.
GoNintendo has scored some details on the recently-registered SonicandtheBlackKnight.com. Apparently, the website has been registered by Sega itself, lending further credence to the blue hedgehog’s upcoming title.
That’s pretty much all we have for Sonic and the Black Knight right now, although we’re also looking forward to knowing whether this game will make use of Nintendo’s new Wii MotionPlus accessory. Stay tuned.

Here’s a quick excerpt
Hot off the release of this month’s NPD Group report on hardware and software sales, Nintendo and Sony have made public their reactions on their sales figures. Both were pleased with what they accomplished in June and promised more good things to come.
Of the two, Sony experienced more growth this month as it exceeded sales expectations sharply with the launch of one of its marquee exclusives. In a press release, Sony wrote:
PlayStation 3 (PS3), led by the launch of the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 bundle, continued to experience tremendous momentum in June 2008, selling 405,488 hardware units 84 percent higher than Microsoft s Xbox 360 (according to NPD June 2008 sales data). PS3 year-over-year hardware sales growth exceeded 311 percent in June, with month-over-month growth exceeding 94 percent.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, exclusively for PS3, was [...]

E3 2008: Koller says DS, not PSP, should be worrying about iPhone January 1, 1970

Here’s a quick excerpt
Who says Sony’s afraid of competition when it comes to the handheld race? Definitely not John Koller, if you ask him. Actually, he was asked just exactly that in the closing moments of E3. And he believes that the PlayStation Portable is just as primed for the big 08.
With iPhone joining the fray and Nintendo’s DS consistently raking in the bucks, the PSP brand manager is still optimistic that the PSP still has got more experience under its belt than its competitors that it will still stay ahead despite the features offered by others.
Let’s take it point by point.
1) “It simply has the best gaming experiences around.” – Keep in mind, it’s got high-profile titles like God of War: Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII in its backyard. Oh, and yes, colors do also add to that gaming experience, and with assorted [...]

Here’s a quick excerpt
Trading standards officers in the UK are reporting a possible influx of unsafe chargers for handheld game consoles and various other gadgets, with one brand possibly causing overheating or electrocution.
According to the report, one of the unsafe chargers concerned has a code marking DE62347066. Others don’t have a code number, and are instead simply called Travel Charger.
Chris Holden, senior trading standards officer at Buckinghamshire County Council, told the BBC that their investigations also revealed another potential problem. Holden noted that some chargers may be carrying a potentially fake CE safety mark. Said Holden, “The UK appears to be flooded with them. It probably runs into hundreds of thousands or even millions.”
These reportedly unsafe chargers usually go for around 5 or 6 (around US 10 to US 11) online or in shops, while properly-checked safe chargers cost 15 (around US [...]

Here’s a quick excerpt
We all know that Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) was one of E3 2008’s biggest attractions. Some hands-on action was unleashed by the Japanese publishers and along with that, some new info as well.
In addition to the game’s simultaneous worldwide launch date across two platforms, Capcom also revealed that a Collector’s Edition of the game will be available. The price? US 89.99. A little on the chunky side, but for drooling fans, it should be a steal.
Resident Evil 5, touted by its devs as the scariest and toughest chapter of the series, will launch on March 13th, 2009. That’s a Friday but this one spells good gaming fortune all the way.

Here’s a quick excerpt
Valve’s Doug Lombardi was recently interviewed about their upcoming Xbox Live Arcade release of the critically-acclaimed Portal. He gave some revelations as to what new content there will be and whether or not new plot elements were added.
Lombardi confirmed to Kotaku that they will indeed be adding new puzzles and more ways to solve them to give players more choices. He stressed that it made sense to add “points of entry to get to the party (and) open more gates to the theme park “
“The main idea is that this is Portal available as a download, and there is additional content as advanced challenges that will be available to you after you finish the critical path of the game,” Lombardi added.
However, the Valve boss did shoot down speculations that an extended storyline will be included in the latest Portal release. “That’s for a game to be named later perhaps,” he [...]

Alan Wake to show up at Tokyo Game Show January 1, 1970

Here’s a quick excerpt
It’s been more than three months since the Alan Wake (Xbox 360, PC) media blackout was rumored to be ending soon, and it looks like Microsoft and Remedy are finally getting ready to talk about the game. When, you ask? During this year’s Tokyo Game Show, that’s when.
A Windows Vista contest where the winner gets their digitized likeness added to Alan Wake seems as good a confirmation as any that the game will indeed be showing up at TGS. The contest’s already over, but coupled with TGS’s October schedule, it sure does look like Mr. Wakeis headed for Tokyo.
The contest was geared primarily towards PC users, but that doesn’t rule out chances of the game’s Xbox 360 version showing up on the TGS floor. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more news on this anticipated title, so keep checking back here for updates.

Here’s a quick excerpt
It’s time for another installment of the Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior, and we have some good news and bad news for you. The good news is that there was a lot of big news happening at E3 2008. The bad news is that there’s five pages worth of news for us to go through as a result of E3.
That being said, we’ve got a tall order with us today. Let’s dispense with the formalities and bring some order to the chaos that was E3 with a nice, orderly Weekend Warrior roundup.
Here’s how we’ll do it. We’ll start off with the big news prior to E3, and then follow it up with the E3 particulars and the usual QJ announcements afterwards. Each important announcement, which will be made in bold, will essentially be a summary of the various announcements related to that particular title, followed by the list of important [...]

Damnation screens, factsheet give off some steamy steampunk funk January 1, 1970

Here’s a quick excerpt
Steampunk fans will probably get a kick out of Damnation as much as I do. I am, after all, a geek over anything steampunk (aside from being a geek of so many other things).
Here we have a bunch of screens (which were actually released a few days ago, during the height of the E3 press conferences – hence the reason why we’re a bit late; yeah, I know, we missed some blindspots, we’re human too) and a fact sheet from Codemasters and Blue Omega’s press release.
While I’m partial to calling it an “oh no, not another generic shooter for the PS3, 360, and PC” game, I still think Damnation is still worth checking out – if not only for the novel experience of getting to play another game set in a steampunk world. Though I know that a lot of games have a steampunk setting (most of which [...]
